Authorities Identify Body Found in Lake

Fingerprint tests revealed Thursday that the body of a man found floating in Irvine Lake was Jose Ricardo Rodriguez of Orange, who fell off his boat while fishing with friends last month, sheriff’s officials said.
Rodriguez, whose 26th birthday would have been Thursday, was fishing in an 18-foot power boat on March 19 when he fell overboard, Lt. Ron Wilkerson said.
Two people jumped in to save him but were unsuccessful. Rodriguez was presumed to have drowned, but a sheriff’s dive team did not find the body.
A sheriff’s helicopter that had been patrolling the lake every day since the incident discovered the body Wednesday, Wilkerson said.
