Numbers Don’t Do Panthers Justice

The Chapman baseball team’s six-game winning streak doesn’t begin to show how dominant the Panthers have been recently.
Chapman has outscored opponents in that span, 60-12, including an 18-4 victory over Occidental Tuesday.
The Panthers (15-9), ranked 20th in the Collegiate Baseball national Division III poll, haven’t been fattening up solely on patsies. Last week, they beat No. 12 Emory, 14-0. Josh LaRocca pitched a one-hitter, giving up only a scratch single.
Chapman hosts Whittier at 3 p.m. today at Hart Park and plays at Pomona-Pitzer at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Chapman is batting .335 as a team and has a 3.38 earned-run average.

Tennis: The Southern California College men’s and women’s teams are nationally ranked in the NAIA. The Vanguard women’s team is ranked 20th and its No. 1 singles player, Serena Xie, is ranked 34th.
