Mixed Results
There was mixed news this week for backers of Proposition 8, the initiative that would create a panel to overhaul the Los Angeles City Charter. The Times Poll found that 76% of likely voters had not even heard or read of the proposition. . . . But the measure is expected to pass anyway, as 48% of likely voters said they would vote for the proposition after reading it.
Winner and Loser
The news was also mixed for High Desert Hospital. . . . The Lancaster health-care facility, which has weathered a period of bad publicity and budget woes, finished in the top 4% in a nationwide accreditation exam. But even as they presented the hospital with a handsome plaque, county supervisors plan to privatize the hospital June 30 to save money.
The Week Ahead
Voters will head to the polls on Tuesday. . . . Glendale, in its independent fashion, held its own election this week.
