Re “Hong Kong Democracy Advocate to Meet Gore,” April 13:
It is legal and rightful for us to ban foreign donations to our political parties. China is accused of having made illegal donations to the Democratic Party in last year’s presidential election. However, when China proposes to ban exactly the same foreign donations to local political parties in Hong Kong (after its return to China in July this year), China is once again accused of trying to diminish civil liberties.
By applying such a blatant double standard, is it not as obvious that the attack is really on China?
