Corona del Mar Again Wins in Golf Tiebreaker

Corona del Mar and Woodbridge finished tied after Monday’s round, 199-199, but the Sea Kings won the tiebreaker after both team’s sixth-best scores were compared.
Innes MacDonald’s 10-over 46 at Rancho San Joaquin was one stroke better than his Woodbridge counterpart, giving the Sea Kings (11-2, 7-0) their second victory in a Sea View League tiebreaker in a week. Last week Corona del Mar defeated top-ranked Santa Margarita in a tiebreaker.
Max Wallick was the medalist with a 34 for Corona del Mar.
In the Long Beach Millikan golf tournament:
Sunny Hills 375, Santa Margarita 377, Palos Verdes Peninsula 382, Westlake Village Westlake 383, Long Beach Millikan 391--Sunny Hills trailed Santa Margarita by four after nine holes, but rallied to win by two at El Dorado Golf Course. Jin Park shot par 72 and Dusty Schmidt had a 74 for the Lancers.
In nonleague golf:
Aliso Niguel 408, Newport Harbor 438--Aliso Niguel’s Brett Tighe aced the 183-yard, fifth hole at El Niguel using a five-iron. Tighe, who shot a seven-over 79, also had a hole in one last season, using the same five-iron, in a match at Coto de Caza.
El Dorado 198, Corona 232--Corey Fox and Mike Cleveland each shot one-over 36 for El Dorado (11-3) at El Prado.
Western 381, Pacifica 415--Eric DeLong shot a six-over 73 and Cameron Lee and Mike Gastelum shot 74s for Western (3-9) at the Navy course and Dad Miller.
Canyon 404, Orange Lutheran 406--Scooter Baum shot 10-over 80 and four others shot 81 for Canyon (6-6) at Anaheim Hills and Willowick. David Riddle was the medalist with a 75 for Orange Lutheran (9-2).
In Orange League boys’ tennis:
Brea Olinda 12 1/2, Western 8 1/2--Scott Koller won his singles sets, 6-3, 6-1, and his doubles set, 6-3, for Brea Olinda (8-8, 4-1), which moved into a tie for first with Western (4-1 in league).
In Golden West League boys’ tennis:
Servite 13, Saddleback 5--Devin Haverland and Joe Ganahl have won 21 consecutive sets after sweeping, 6-3, 6-0, 6-3, for Servite (15-2, 7-0).
In nonleague boys’ swimming:
Servite 93, Sunny Hills 77--Jarrod Cruzat won the 200 individual medley (2:05) and the 100 backstroke (57.11) for Servite (6-0).
In nonleague girls’ swimming:
Rosary 107, Sunny Hills 63--Noel DeGrasse won the 50 freestyle (26.9) and 100 freestyle (58.7), and Ablla Younis won the 200 individual medley (2:22.7) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.8) for Rosary (8-2).
In nonleague boys’ volleyball:
Capistrano Valley 3, Laguna Beach 2--Ryan Thurlow had 37 kills as No. 4 Capistrano Valley beat No. 7 Laguna Beach, 15-10, 14-16, 15-5, 9-15, 15-11. Beau Rawi added 21 kills and Jay Monson had 88 assists for the Cougars.
It was the second time this season that Laguna Beach (3-3) has lost in five games to Capistrano Valley (7-1).
