Ventura College will host an open house today for people who are interested in what the college has to offer.
There will be coordinated campus tours as well as information for those who wish to explore on their own.
Faculty members from each discipline will present overviews of their programs and answer questions. Several centers and departments will also be open, including the tutoring, fitness, children’s, health, career, and reentry and women centers, as well as the financial aid and the admissions and records departments.
A drawing will be held, with five winners receiving 12 units of classes, worth about $156 in fees, paid for by the Ventura College Foundation.
A complimentary enchilada lunch and entertainment by Folk Lorico will be provided.
“We thought this would be a nice opportunity to bring people from the community to the campus and share with them the services, classes and all of the opportunities that are available to them,” said Jeanette Villanueva-Walker, spokeswoman for Ventura College, adding that this marks the college’s first open house.
“Everyone is so busy during the week, so we want people to have fun and be entertained since they’re giving us their Saturday,” Villanueva-Walker said.
The event begins at 10 a.m. in the quad with coffee and introductions. Lunch will be served from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. when the open house ends.
