Incaviglia Gets Revenge With Homer

Times Wire Services

In Baltimore’s 11-0 victory over Oakland on Sunday, the Orioles’ Pete Incaviglia did not appreciate a pitch by the Athletics’ Don Wengert that hit him in the left arm in the sixth inning.

Incaviglia slowly walked toward the mound as both benches emptied. Order was quickly restored before any punches were thrown.

“It was a sinker inside and it got away from me,” Wengert said. “He wasn’t too happy about it, but what are you going to do?”

Incaviglia got revenge against Wengert in the eighth with a solo homer, giving Baltimore its most lopsided victory of the year.

“If he didn’t mean to hit me, it sure looked bad,” said Incaviglia, who had a huge ice pack on his arm after the game. “Sometimes you’re playing with guy’s careers, and it’s just not right.”
