Eisner Wants to Keep Wilson and Kariya

ANAHEIM — Michael Eisner, Walt Disney Co. CEO, endorsed Mighty Duck Coach Ron Wilson on Tuesday and said the team will match any offer to keep left wing Paul Kariya.
Wilson does not have a contract for next season, essentially making him a free agent. Rumors have Buffalo, Detroit and Pittsburgh interested in hiring Wilson, who says he wants to stay in Anaheim.
Kariya, the NHL’s third-leading scorer, will become a restricted free agent at season’s end and the Ducks have the right to match any outside offers. And there are sure to be many if the Ducks don’t move quickly.
“We love Ron Wilson,” Eisner told ESPN2 during a between-periods interview. “He’s been with us since the first day. I’m not involved in the day-to-day discussions. I don’t think there have been any during the playoffs.
“But definitely [the Ducks want to retain] Paul Kariya and probably Ron Wilson too.”
