In other Freeway League games:
La Habra 8, Troy 5--Bubba Cauley pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings to earn his first save for the Highlanders (14-7, 7-6). Troy (5-18, 3-10) had only five hits, but four were home runs.
Sunny Hills 6, Fullerton 5--Senior Chris Zeiler had the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, knocking in two runs for Sunny Hills (5-17).
In the Century League:
Canyon 6, El Modena 3--Winning pitcher Mike Tomarelli had three hits and three RBIs for the visiting Comanches (19-5, 11-2), ranked ninth in the county.
In the Empire League:
Cypress 7, Century 0--Senior Phillip Seibel, struck out a school-record nine consecutive hitters and finished with 12 strikeouts and a two-hitter for visiting Cypress (13-8-2, 9-4).
Loara 5, Kennedy 4 (8 innings)--Carlos Ortiz hit the game-tying home run in the bottom of the seventh then hit an RBI single to drive in Archie Lappin with the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth for host Loara (11-12, 7-6). Kennedy is 13-10, 7-6.
In the Pacific Coast League:
University 11, Aliso Niguel 3--Eli Stokols and Dan Candela each had two hits and three RBIs for host University (17-7, 10-3). Aliso Niguel is 15-8, 10-3.
In the Sea View League:
El Toro 12, Santa Margarita 8--Clemente Bonilla hit a grand slam with none out in the bottom of the seventh inning for the the Chargers (14-9-1, 8-4-1). El Toro won both games against seventh-ranked Santa Margarita (17-7, 8-5) this week with seventh inning home runs.
In the Garden Grove League:
La Quinta 6, Garden Grove 1--Steve Lee pitched five shutout innings to earn his 12th victory for the fifth-ranked Aztecs (22-3, 9-1).
Los Amigos 20, Rancho Alamitos 7--Adam Shaeffer had four hits, including a home run, scored five runs and had three RBIs for Los Amigos (7-14, 3-7).
In the Orange League:
Magnolia 12, Anaheim 3--Colt Martin had five RBIs for Magnolia (18-2-1, 11-2).
Valencia 6, Brea Olinda 2--Matthew Randolph hit a three-run homer for Valencia (15-8, 8-5).
In the South Coast League:
Mater Dei 4, San Clemente 0--Nick Lovato pitched a six-hitter with 10 strikeouts for top-ranked Mater Dei (20-3, 13-0).
In the Sunset League:
Esperanza 13, Marina 2--Tommy Nicholson had three hits and three RBIs for the Aztecs (19-4, 11-2).
Los Alamitos 9, Edison 5--Pitcher Matt Robbart gave up only two hits for the Griffins (7-16, 3-10).
