Administaff Opens Newport Beach Office

Times Staff Writer

A Houston-based staffing services company has opened a Newport Beach office, the first of up to seven Southern California branches it hopes to establish.

Orange County is the 11th market for Administaff Inc., which takes over management of benefits, payrolls, workers’ compensation, personnel records, recruiting and other services for small and medium sized businesses.

Administaff, the second-largest U.S. staff leasing company, has about 1,500 small-business clients with more than 25,000 workers. It’s spending $12 million on a national expansion after an initial public offering this year.

It considers 36 factors in determining what markets to enter, said Paul J. Sarvadi, Administaff’s chief executive officer. Orange County ranked among the top five regions nationally in the analysis. The company’s next location in Southern California will probably be Glendale, he said.
