Four robbers wearing ski masks and carrying handguns smashed cases in a jewelry store Friday and escaped with watches, police said.
About 2:15 p.m., the men walked into the Charles Barr Jewelers in the 1800 block of Westcliff Drive and ordered five employees and two customers to lie on the floor, Sgt. Pat O’Sullivan said. “They smashed the cases, took the jewelry and were gone in a minute,” O’Sullivan said.
The men fled in a 1985 Buick four-door sedan, which authorities recovered half an hour later at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Irvine Avenue. Detectives said the car had been stolen Wednesday in Los Angeles County. A green ski mask was recovered inside the car, O’Sullivan said.
No one was injured in the robbery and the four, possibly five, robbers were still at large as of Friday evening, police said.
