SEASON AT A GLANCE: After rushing for 2,945 yards and scoring 38 touchdowns during the 1996 football season, Fargas ranked among the region leaders in four events in track. With bests of 10.58 seconds in the 100 meters, 21.7 in the 200, 22 feet 8 1/4 inches in the long jump and 45-5 3/4 in the triple jump, he ranked first, sixth, third and third in the region in those events.
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Fargas won the 100 and ran the anchor leg on the 1,600 relay team that was third in the state championships at Hughes Stadium in Sacramento. . Fargas’ wind-aided time of 10.52 in the 100 gave him a .08 margin of victory over Miguel Fletcher of Alemany and his 47.3-second anchor leg in the 1,600 relay helped the Knights set a school record of 3:14.53. “It means a great deal,” Fargas said. “I worked very hard to get to this point.”
