Classic Car Display Set for Father’s Day

About 250 classic cars from around the world will be on display Sunday at Cal Lutheran University in the ninth annual Father’s Day Car Roundup.

Rolls Royces, Austin Healeys and pre- and post-war Jaguars are among the cars that will be on view as part of ongoing fund-raising efforts for Cal Lutheran scholarships awarded to low-income students.

“This show is noted for having the widest variety of classic, antique and special interest automobiles in Southern California,” said Fred Roth, the show’s organizer.

The event drew 3,000 people last year, said Cal Lutheran spokeswoman Lynda Fulford.

She said the school hopes to raise at least the $8,000 the event generated last year.

“The car show has grown every year in attendance,” Fulford said.

Ten of the vehicles will be on sale.

Trophies will be awarded in three categories: a team of Milestone Car Society judges evaluating overall quality, car owners judging each other’s vehicles on appearance and those in attendance choosing their favorites.

KNX-AM (1070) News Radio’s Michael Ambrosini, a car enthusiast, will serve as master of ceremonies and give out the awards.

The field of restored cars will include an antique collection of children’s pedal cars, mostly built in the 1930s and 1940s, Roth said.

The event is co-sponsored by the Milestone Car Society of California and the Community Leaders Club, a fund-raising arm of Cal Lutheran.
