Judge Allows Belmont School Construction Work to Begin

A Superior Court judge agreed Friday to lift a five-week injunction that had stopped work on the Los Angeles school district’s planned $87-million downtown high school.
Judge Diane Wayne issued the injunction May 5 to allow district’s school bond oversight committee to decide whether bond funds should be used to help pay for the Belmont Learning Center. After twice dismissing the committee’s recommendation as inadequate, Wayne said Friday that she was satisfied.
