Foyt Serves Up Bad-Sport Punch

A.J. Foyt joined the Indy Racing League because he wanted to be a winner again, and his cars were no longer competitive on the Championship Auto Racing Teams circuit.

His desperation to win was evident in his blindside attack on Arie Luyendyk. Get a life, A.J. Even better, get a real race car. Until then, any victory you may achieve in the IRL will be hollow, kind of like the noise that Tony George must hear when he tries to think.

Yesterday I was outraged by the Foyt assault coverage in the sports section. I saw today the wisdom of the L.A. Times. Turn all criminal acts into sports events and thus eliminate all crime. Turn the whole paper over to idiots in sports.

A drive-by shooting becomes a “hunt.” The perpetrator is a “hunter.” The poor dead person on the street becomes an impersonal “trophy.” Endless possibilities here. Would the driver of the car be the “guide” and get special recognition?
