With high school graduations come a fresh crop of valedictorians, with grades nearly off the scale. Valley Briefing (B2) lists the best and brightest of San Fernando, Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley schools, along with colleges they expect to attend.
* BACK AGAIN: Striking a blow for nostalgia, Casey and Anita Hallenbeck have reopened Phil’s Diner, a 1920s North Hollywood landmark that succumbed to MTA Red Line tunneling in the fall. They renovated the interior and are awaiting a Community Redevelopment Agency grant to finish the outside and move Phil’s to a new site in North Hollywood. Casey Hallenbeck, a film set decorator, said that after the move the diner will sit on railroad tracks next to their Cahuenga Boulevard general store.
