D.C. United Scores Sixth Win in a Row

Associated Press

Tony Sanneh scored in the 72nd minute as Washington D.C. United beat the New England Revolution, 1-0, in front of a Foxboro Stadium crowd of 26,313 Saturday night.

It was the defending Major League Soccer champion’s sixth consecutive victory.

Sanneh, who has three goals this season, took a short pass from midfielder John Harkes, faked his way past a defender and beat former Italy World Cup goalkeeper Walter Zenga with a sharply angled shot.

Washington (11-3) stretched its Eastern Conference lead over second-place New England (9-5) to eight points.
