EL TORO--The Taste of Orange County will offer samples from about 30 restaurants and plenty of music, to the tune of 55 jazz, rock and other acts. There will also be kids’ activities and a comedians showcase. 5 p.m.-midnight Friday, noon-midnight Saturday, noon-10 p.m. June 22 at the El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, off Interstates 5 and 405 at the Sand Canyon exit. $8 adults, $3 children 3-12, under 3 free. REEDLEY--Food and fun range from sweet to plum silly at the Fresh Fruit Festival, with local produce and fruit-flavored fare for sale. New this year is the Fresh Fruit Olympics, with the watermelon pass, the cantaloupe shotput and other events (entry fee $10 per six-member team). 11 a.m.-8 p.m. June 28, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. June 29 at Kings River Community College campus, 995 N. LAKE ARROWHEAD--Bayside at the lake’s Tavern Bay is the setting for the Arts & Wine Festival, June 28 and 29. It will include an arts and crafts fair, live music and wine tastings ($1-$5). KENWOOD--What started 31 years ago as a picnic and pillow fight has grown into a Fourth of July Celebration featuring the World Pillow Fighting Championships. Contestants, armed with feather pillows, sit astride a pole suspended across a creek and try to topple each other. Other activities include a parade, at 10 a.m. along Warm Springs Road, and children’s games. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. $3 adults, children under 12 free. At Plaza Park, on Warm Springs Road off California 12. FILLMORE--Fireworks and fiery chili heat up the Fourth at the Sespe Creek Car Show & Regional Chili Cook-Off. About 350 hot rods and other cars will be displayed around Central Park. There will be food, arts and crafts for sale. 11 a.m.-dusk, when a fireworks show wraps up festivities. Free admission; chili-tasting tickets 50 cents each. (805) 524-0351.
