Pickup Driver Uninjured After Hitting Big Rig

A Santa Paula man narrowly escaped injury Monday when the pickup he was driving hit the side of a big rig and slid partially underneath the truck’s trailer.
Mike Genet, the driver of the pickup, was making a turn onto the southbound lanes of Johnson Drive near North Bank Drive when he struck and slid under the tractor trailer, said Ventura Police Officer Greg Hayes. Robert Abbott, the driver of the tractor trailer, had been trying to pull into the parking lot of a nearby fast-food restaurant, Hayes said.
There were no injuries in the crash.
It took less than two minutes to extricate Genet’s pickup truck, he said. No one was cited in the crash, which is still under investigation.
