Another First: Overtime

The New York Liberty opened overtime with six consecutive points, then held on to defeat the Houston Comets, 62-60, before an announced crowd of 8,931 at Houston on Thursday in the WNBA’s first overtime game.
Sacramento 78, Charlotte 70--Former Olympians Ruthie Bolton-Holifield and Pamela McGee combined for 44 points before an announced crowd of 6,248 at Sacramento as the Monarchs handed the Sting its third loss in a row.
Cleveland 74, Utah 63--Isabelle Fijalkowski scored 21 points and Janice Braxton had 14 rebounds to lead the Rockers before an announced 8,845 at Cleveland.
WNBA Notes
Sheryl Swoopes of the Houston Comets gave birth to her first son, Jordan Eric Jackson, on Wednesday at Lubbock, Texas. Swoopes expects to start playing for Houston in August.
