Appeal Halts Prober in Slaying of King

An investigator appointed to look into the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. will hold off starting work until an appeals court rules whether a state judge had authority to name an investigator in the case. The investigation into claims by confessed killer James Earl Ray that he did not kill King was halted until a hearing Aug. 29.
