Friends of Westwood to Hold Annual Meeting

Friends of Westwood will hold its annual public meeting Thursday to discuss development projects.
Topics will include updates on a proposed theater and retail complex in Westwood Village, a 14-story high-rise in the Wilshire Corridor and the Santa Monica Boulevard revitalization project.
The viability of a proposal for the Westside to secede from the city of Los Angeles also will be debated, said coalition president Laura Lake, who characterized Los Angeles as a “dysfunctional city that fails to respect community priorities and planning laws or provide adequate services.”
“We’re concerned about the quality of life in Westwood,” said Lake. “The village will prosper only if it caters to the residents living in it.”
The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Macy’s Garden Room Restaurant, 10861 Weyburn Ave.
