Japanese pitcher Masato Yoshii, a free agent, met with the Dodgers on Monday.
Yoshii and his agent, Don Nomura, talked with owner Peter O’Malley and Executive Vice President Fred Claire for 45 minutes at Dodger Stadium. Contract possibilities were not discussed.
Nomura, who also represents Dodger pitcher Hideo Nomo, said he has already spoken with the San Francisco Giants, New York Mets and Oakland Athletics about Yoshii.
But Yoshii, 32, doesn’t appear to be a good fit with the Dodgers. A 14-season veteran, he would prefer to be a starter, and the Dodger rotation is seemingly set.
