What’s happening in the next few weeks:

* With parties, parades and balls, Mardi Gras is one of the greatest shows on Earth. Make your reservations early. It runs from the Feast of Epiphany and ends on Mardi Gras Day, or Fat Tuesday, which this year is Jan. 6-Feb. 24. (504) 566-5011.

* “Cities of the Dead: Life in New Orleans Cemeteries,” through Oct. 18. This exhibition features photographs representing local cemeteries from different perspectives, including an exploration of various burial techniques, decorative ironwork, funerary marble work and traditions.
