The Times’ editorial on water decisions (Nov. 27) missed one sorely needed piece of legislation.
The giant agriculture districts receive 87% of California’s water allotment at a mere fraction of its cost via taxpayer subsidy. They should not be allowed to sell “surplus” water back to us taxpayers at enormous profit to themselves.
This is exactly what the Imperial Irrigation District is doing to the San Diego County Water Authority. With a deal like this, who needs to farm?
