Olive Crest Opens Center for Severely Abused Kids

A new care center has opened for county children who have suffered the most from abuse and neglect. The Olive Crest organization held an open house Thursday for its $1.7-million Children’s Center in Santa Ana.
The center will be the first in Orange County to provide care for “Level 14” children, those one step removed from requiring hospitalization because of the abuse or neglect they have suffered, officials said.
Previously, such children were sent to group homes or other locations where they did not receive the intensive care needed for rehabilitation, Olive Crest spokeswoman Erica Floyd said.
Olive Crest is a nonprofit organization based in Santa Ana that oversees 13 group homes in Orange County, Floyd said.
