Buena Kicks Up a Storm, 6-0

Freshman forwards Natalie Sanderson and Ashleigh Garmon combined to score five goals and Buena High beat Lancaster, 6-0, in pool play in the South Torrance girls’ soccer tournament Saturday at South Torrance High.
Sanderson had three goals, two in the second half when the Bulldogs (2-0) scored five times.
Garmon scored two goals during the second-half outburst, and Melissa Sanchez had the other goal. Of Buena’s six goals, five--including a penalty kick by Sanderson--were unassisted.
Amber Carr scored in the 19th minute on a direct free kick from 30 yards and Buena defeated Bishop Montgomery, 1-0, in an earlier pool-play game.
Goalkeeper Katie Maxwell made four saves in the opening match.
In other girls’ soccer matches:
Ventura 4, Muir 0--Freshman midfielder Lisa Engel scored two goals and Katy Atturio and Kitty Sexton added one each and the Cougars (1-2) won in pool play in the South Torrance tournament.
Ventura fell, 1-0, to Peninsula in another pool-play match when the Dolphins scored with three minutes to play. Playing goalkeeper, Sexton made seven saves in that match.
Agoura 4, Culver City 0--The Chargers (2-1) scored four second-half goals in a pool-play game at the South Torrance tournament.
Agoura later lost, 2-0, to West Torrance in another pool-play game.
