Corporate Neglect
It’s fascinating to watch the many corporate sponsors line up to donate millions to the new Disney Hall while just down the street on Broadway almost as many historically important movie palaces sit dark and decaying, their existence threatened by demolition and tacky reuses. At the same time, the Getty spends billions to build its center high above the San Diego Freeway to preserve art and architecture and yet ignores this shameful neglect in its own city. Where’s the logic?
