TUSTIN — A Tustin service station worker was critically hurt Tuesday when he was accidentally run over while kneeling in the station’s parking lot, the California Highway Patrol said.
About 3:15 p.m., Bishal Abir, 29, was checking the level of an underground fuel tank at the Chevron station at 17th Street and Carroll Way, just east of the Costa Mesa Freeway, a CHP report said.
A Caltrans worker backed his department truck out of a parking space at the station, the CHP said. He didn’t see Abir and ran over him, the report said.
Abir was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana in critical condition.
The accident remains under investigation.
