Panel to Consider Recycling Facility
Simi Valley Recycling’s attempt to operate a waste-conversion facility in an industrial section of town will be considered tonight by the city Planning Commission.
Arrow Real Corp., which owns the land at 400 W. Los Angeles Ave., wants to lease it to the recycler and is requesting permission to establish the facility on the site, which is near a sewage treatment plant and bus depot.
If approved, the facility would begin recycling collected cardboard, aluminum, glass, plastic and newspapers by the beginning of the year.
The permit hearing was postponed last month because of a lack of a quorum. Two commissioners were absent and two others, citing a conflict of interest, recused themselves from voting, leaving only one to hear the case.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road.
