ANAHEIM : New Biography Program Is Donated to Schools

A new program will allow middle and high school students in three districts serving Anaheim to learn more about famous people including Colin Powell, Babe Ruth and Charles Dickens.
The program--”Biography: Experience It!”--is an effort of Century Communications, A&E; Network and the U.S. Conference of Mayors, officials announced this week.
“It’s a great educational tool and best of all, it’s a free service,” Mayor Tom Daly said.
Anaheim Union High, Orange Unified and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified school districts each were given a television, VCR, collection of 25 biography videos and study materials for teachers.
Western High School history teacher Ed Woodson said the multimedia material “enhances the learning experience and it makes teaching a lot more fun.”
Esperanza High School senior Nicki Rime, 17, of Yorba Linda, agreed: “Students are more apt to watch a biography than read about it because they can see exactly what the person was like.”
