Presidential Pardons

William Brenner (letter, Dec. 9) questions whether Republicans who are “fuming” over Janet Reno’s failure to appoint an independent counsel to investigate White House fund-raising were “equally outraged” over President Ford’s decision to pardon Richard Nixon in 1974. That I can’t answer, but I will tell you that this Republican will be “equally outraged” if President Gingrich decides to pardon Clinton and Gore in 1998.
