TUSTIN — The body of a woman who apparently had been stabbed was found Tuesday in her apartment, and police want to question an El Toro Marine corporal she had dated.
A friend called police after the woman answered neither the phone nor her door. Officers found the body in the apartment in the 14100 block of Browning Avenue, police said.
The victim’s name is being withheld until her family can be notified.
Police want to question Keith M. Wroten, a corporal at the El Toro U.S. Marine Corps Air Station, who had dated the woman and was at her apartment Monday night, Police Lt. Michael Shanahan said.
He is described as black, 25 years old, 6 feet tall, 175 pounds with a shaved head, police said. He may be driving a dark purple or maroon 1994 GMC Sonoma pickup truck with Kansas license plates KVB 786, police said.
Wroten did not show up at the base for work or at his barracks Tuesday, Shanahan said. “He’s basically vanished,” Shanahan added.
Anyone with information about the killing is asked to call Tustin Police Det. Tom Tarpley at (714) 573-3247.
