Newman Is Named Baseball Coach at SCC

Andy Newman has been hired as the baseball coach at Southern California Christian, according to Athletic Director J.T. Cameron.

Newman, who had been the junior varsity coach at Los Alamitos, replaces Darren Owens, who held the job two years.

Brian and Andrew Cheney from Chandler, Ariz., defeated Bill and Chris Tontz of Newport Beach, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, to win the United States Tennis Assn. National Father and Son Hardcourt Championships at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
