MARK GLEASON
Mission Viejo, Sr.
Gleason became only the second runner from the county to win an individual state title, winning the Division II race in 15:16. His accomplishments did not end at the state meet, however, as he went on to finish fifth in the West Regional Championships, qualifying him for the National Finals.
JOSE HERRERA
Loara, Jr.
Herrera lost only one Empire League dual meet, to Katella’s Danny Mejia, but later avenged the loss by winning the Empire League title. He went on to finish second in his preliminary heat (15:18), fourth in the Southern Section Division II race (15:41) and ninth in the state meet (15:46).
DANNY LEE
El Toro, Sr.
A leg injury hampered Lee’s performance but didn’t stop him from winning the Sea View League title and finishing fourth in the Southern Section Division I finals (15:40). He also won his race at the Woodbridge Invitational (14:38) and at the Laguna Hills Invitational (15:03).
ALFONSO LEON
Santa Ana, Jr.
Leon topped off an impressive season by finishing 10th in the state Division I finals (15:49). A week earlier, he was fifth at the Southern Section finals (15:40). Earlier in the season, he won his race at the Dana Hills Invitational (15:23) and the Laguna Hills Invitational (15:40).
C.J. MARCIALES
Tustin, Sr.
Marciales started the season strong, winning his race at the Laguna Hills Invitational (15:36) and taking fifth at the Woodbridge Invitational (15:17). He finished the season with a 19th-place finish in the state Division II finals (16:13) and an eighth-place finish at the section finals (15:56).
JUAN SALGADO
Santa Ana, Jr.
Never far behind Leon, Salgado tied his teammate in their race at the Dana Hills Invitational and was second at the Laguna Hills Invitational (15:44). He finished the season with an 11th-place finish at the state Division I finals (15:51) and a ninth-place finish at the section finals (15:44).
HERIBERTO SARABIA
Sonora, Sr.
In only his second season as a runner, Sarabia was third at the state Division III finals (15:51) and second at the Southern Section finals (15:30). Earlier in the season, he was second in his race at the Woodbridge Invitational (15:22) and third at the Sonora Invitational (15:23).
ROGER NAVA

Santa Ana
Nava’s Saints finished the season fourth in the state Division I rankings after starting the season ranked eighth. Santa Ana won the Golden West League title for the fifth consecutive year and finished third at the Southern Section Division I finals.

Placed fifth at Southern Section preliminaries (15:55).
Robert Ellis, La Quinta, Sr.
Finished 8th at section Division III finals (16:01).
Bruce Hancock, Costa Mesa, Jr.
Placed 16th at state Division IV finals (16:29).
Devin Lindahl, Dana Hills, Jr.
Took 6th at Southern Section Division I prelims (15:40).
Danny Mejia, Katella, So.
Finished 11th at section Division II finals (16:02).
Alberto Munoz, Estancia, Jr.
8th in section Division IV (16:12) and state (16:10).
Fabian Ruelas, Sonora, Sr.
Finished 7th at state Division III finals (16:05).
