An ex-employee of Air Logistics Corp. in Pasadena was behind bars Friday after pleading not guilty to charges that he stalked a group of senior company managers, sent them fake bombs and burned one of their cars.
Rene Matias, 44, of Alhambra, was arraigned Christmas Eve and remained in custody in lieu of $2-million bail, county prosecutors said.
Matias, they said, was fired from Air Logistics two years ago and had been stalking his former bosses ever since. In August, prosecutors said, his alleged victims obtained a temporary restraining order against him.
Matias faces two counts of sending false bombs, stemming from incidents on May 16, 1996, and July 16 this year. He also is charged with 13 counts of stalking, and one count of arson in the burning of a car a manager owned, authorities said.
Additionally, Pasadena arson investigators are also probing a suspicious fire Nov. 22 at Air Logistics in connection with the case.
The fire caused more than $4 million in damage.
