Schools Give Charity 15,000 Pounds of Food

A holiday charity drive at five local schools yielded 15,000 pounds of food to benefit children and families in need.
Students and faculty at Roch Courreges, Fred Moiola, William T. Newland and Isojiro Oka elementary schools and Samuel E. Talbert Middle School participated.
The Southwest Community Center in Santa Ana received the donations. The center has been helping people in need for 25 years.
About 200 people a day line up for free meals; more than 1 million have been served. An additional 600 sacks of groceries are given to qualifying families every month.
