Campbell Soup Co. ended months of speculation by naming Dale Morrison, head of its Pepperidge Farm division, successor to David Johnson as president and chief executive. Johnson will step down as chairman next year. . . . Colorado Springs, Colo.-based Western Pacific Airlines Inc. and Frontier Airlines Inc. said their respective boards have approved a plan to merge. . . . The U.S. sank deeper as the world’s biggest debtor last year as foreign investors gobbled up record amounts of Treasury securities and corporate bonds.
