“Reinstate the Spirit of the Family” is the theme of a multicultural women’s conference being held through Sunday at Rancho Cienega Park.
Speakers throughout the weekend will include representatives from the NAACP, local clergy and leaders of the Los Angeles-based organization Great Beginnings for Black Babies.
The weekend event also is a fund-raiser for Freedom Journal magazine, which is sponsoring the event.
“We hope that people will go away from the conference with education and a spirit of unity, and that it will strengthen our bonds and make our community a better place,” said Sharon Almendarez, a spokeswoman for the group.
Hours today and Sunday are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets are $3.
