City Considers Reopening Job Placement Service

Santa Fe Springs city officials said Wednesday that they are considering a plan to revive job placement services that were eliminated during budget cuts earlier this year.
Under the plan, a worker from the state’s Employment Development Department office in Norwalk would be reassigned to Santa Fe Springs once a week to help job seekers who were served by the city program.
Managers of the city’s Community Services Department hope to meet soon with the state agency to discuss the plan. State officials could not be reached for comment.
For about 20 years, the city operated its own job placement service through its Neighborhood Center on Pioneer Boulevard.
