NEWPORT BEACH — Corona del Mar High has named John Emme its baseball coach, athletic director Jerry Jelnick said Wednesday.
Emme, 33, who lives in Newport Beach, had recently been an assistant at Redondo Beach Redondo Union High for four years. Emme played high school baseball at La Canada St. Francis, then pitched at UC Davis for three years.
He also coached high school in Underwood, Iowa, for three years. He replaces Joe Koh, who coached at Corona del Mar for three years before leaving. The Sea Kings have not qualified for the Southern Section playoffs in five years.
