Not in the Running for Ventura Council

After running unsuccessfully for a seat on the Ventura City Council two years ago, I thanked the voters and indicated I would either run again in 1997 or support another candidate.
With the official start of the race just over a month away I am almost certain I will not run in this year’s campaign. While I regret this I recognize that I simply do not have the funds or time necessary to commit myself to a campaign. I will, however, be involved in the council race. I plan to offer what support I can to Brian Lee Rencher’s campaign.
I would also like to offer to post campaign statements and speeches for any of this year’s candidates on my Web site at www.elixir.com/people/john/ventura/campaign97 I plan to have links to other Web sites related to the council race. Good luck to all the candidates.
