Pot Roast Accident Becomes Recipe for Arrest

A Santa Monica man was being held on charges he assaulted his lover after the hot pot roast dinner she was making fell on his feet and scalded him, police said Tuesday.
Roman Felix Kasprzycki, 51, had been drinking heavily Saturday night when he decided to check on his dinner, said Santa Monica Police Sgt. Gary Gallinot. Kasprzycki yanked the oven door open, causing the roast to fall and giving him second-degree burns on his feet, Gallinot said.
“He became enraged and walked across the apartment,” Gallinot said. “He grabbed the victim by the throat and began violently choking her.”
Kasprzycki allegedly then threatened the 51-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, with a candlestick holder before running out of their home, Gallinot said.
Police arrested Kasprzycki later that evening for assault with a deadly weapon and brought him to Santa Monica-UCLA Medical Center, where he was treated for his burns.
