Preserving History May Become Easier

In an effort to expand its preservation efforts, the City Council on Monday will consider adding 111 sites to the Santa Ana Register of Historical Property, including the Howe-Waffle House, named after the county’s first female doctor.

The council also will consider changes to the historic properties code, including allowing any individual or group to nominate historic sites.

Santa Ana resident Diann Marsh, the city’s unofficial historian, said she will ask the council to establish a Historic Preservation Commission to help showcase historic sites and promote tourism.
