Electronics Store Employees Beaten in Attempted Holdup

Four employees of an electronics store in Woodland Hills were beaten by would-be robbers carrying shotguns and wearing Halloween disguises who barged into the building early Friday just as the workers arrived, police said.

The Fry’s Electronics employees, all men, were struck in the face and head, police said. The four were treated at a hospital and released.

The robbers appeared about 6:40 a.m., police said. Shoving the arriving manager into the store, the robbers beat two custodians and two other employees they encountered inside the building.

The three robbers in the building ordered the manager to open the store’s safe, but an accomplice outside urged his cohorts to flee before they had taken anything.

The suspects left in a van, which had been reported stolen, drove about a quarter of a mile, then switched to a blue sedan, police said.
