Gandall Keys Trabuco Hills’ Victory Over Capistrano Valley

MISSION VIEJO — Al Gandall rushed for 271 yards and scored two touchdowns as Trabuco Hills defeated Capistrano Valley, 28-14, Friday night in a South Coast League game at Capistrano Valley High.
Gandall rushed in from one yard early in the first quarter to give Trabuco Hills a 7-0 lead.
With 7 minutes 24 seconds to play in the half, Gandall scored his second touchdown on a three-yard run as the Mustangs took a 14-0 lead.
One minute later, Capistrano Valley’s Chris Tortorici scored on a 45-yard pass from quarterback Jeff Dixon to put the Cougars on the board.
Trabuco Hills quarterback Joseph Edwards then scored on a one-yard sneak to give the Mustangs a 21-7 lead at intermission.
Trabuco Hills quarterback Bill Carol scored from one yard to give the Mustangs a 28-7 lead late in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Dixon scored on a 10-yard run up the middle to close the scoring for Capistrano Valley.
Dixon completed 12 of 24 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for one touchdown.
Trabuco Hills (4-4, 1-2) travels to Cal State Fullerton Thursday to take on top-ranked Mater Dei. Capistrano Valley (2-4-2, 0-3) heads south Friday night to play San Clemente.
