Jail Operating Firm to Buy Sentencing Concepts Inc.

ANAHEIM — Sentencing Concepts Inc., which provides rehabilitative programs and electronic monitoring for low-risk criminals, has agreed to be acquired by a Texas-based company that runs five city jails in Orange and Los Angeles counties.
Correctional Systems Inc. of San Marcos said it intends to buy privately held Sentencing Concepts for about $1.4 million in stock within 30 days.
Sentencing Concepts was founded in 1994 to provide alternative programs that emphasize rehabilitation. Correctional Systems, which was also founded in 1994 and went public last year, manages adult and juvenile detention facilities and provides alternative correction programs.
Sentencing Concepts, which has four offices and 34 employees, will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Correctional Systems and will continue to operating under its current name.
Correctional Systems runs jails in Seal Beach, Bell, Alhambra, Montebello and Baldwin Park.
