Police sought the public’s help Monday in finding a motorist who fled after an accident that killed a young woman standing next to her boyfriend’s car in the Crenshaw area.
Kenisha King, 19, was fatally injured about 7 p.m. Sunday in front of 3968 Arlington Ave., said Los Angeles police Det. Eugene Tapia.
“She was talking to her boyfriend on the driver’s side of his car, which was parked facing northbound,” Tapia said. “When her boyfriend opened the door of his car and started to get out on the driver’s side, King stepped back into the northbound lane, exposing herself to northbound traffic.”
She was hit by a car that sped away, Tapia said. The vehicle may have been an older model Cadillac or Lincoln, rust-colored, with possible gray primer spots, police said.
Anyone with information can call police at (310) 202-4547.
