3 Arrested in Robberies at Shopping Centers

A gang member from Los Angeles and two others have been arrested in connection with three armed robberies in the city earlier this month, police said.

Roger Eddie Lopez, 23, of Echo Park was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at Ventura County Jail on Wednesday night following his arrest earlier in the day by Simi Valley detectives, authorities said.

The two other suspects were arrested Nov. 20.

Douglas F. Sosa, 19, of Van Nuys, was being held on three counts of robbery. Bail was $50,000, according to a jail spokeswoman.

Authorities said a 16-year-old from Van Nuys was cited and released.

Cash, wallets and jewelry were taken from five teenage boys in Simi Valley on Nov. 5, 7 and 8.

Two robberies occurred at the Sycamore Plaza shopping mall on Cochran Street, the third at a shopping center at 1494 Madera Road.

In one of the holdups, a suspect allegedly used a screwdriver, but none of the victims was injured, authorities said.
