Food Bank Adding Toy Drive to Its Menu

Adopt-a-Neighbor is a year-round food bank based in Mission Viejo that tries to make sure that nobody goes hungry in South County.
But during the holidays, the nonprofit group goes into the gift-giving business.
Group members have an adopt-a-family program, in which needy families submit wish lists and those more fortunate try to make their holiday wishes come true. The group also delivers holiday meals.
“We go the extra mile for AIDS and cancer patients,” said Kathryn McCullough, who runs Adopt-a-Neighbor. “We try to make sure everyone gets at least one present.”
Needed are food items, from hams and turkeys to canned goods, toys for children and presents for adults, such as ties or perfume. Donations must be new.
The organization also can use volunteers to help wrap and deliver holiday packages. Information: (714) 581-6802.
